How to Choose a Wedding Photographer in Ahmedabad

Don't just look at photos, look at whole weddings
Most photographers show you their 20 best shots. That's not how a real wedding works. Ask to see a full gallery from a single wedding - start to finish. How do the morning preparations look? The ceremony? The quiet moment between the baraat and the pheras when nothing "big" is happening?
The best photographers don't just capture the grand moments. They capture the in-between ones - your mother adjusting your dupatta, your best friend laughing at something nobody remembers anymore. Those are the photos you'll look at most.
We've sat across from a lot of couples in Ahmedabad. And almost every one of them says the same thing: "We didn't realise how important this decision was until after the wedding."
The venue gets returned. The food gets eaten. The flowers wilt. But your photographs — those go on the wall. They live in albums that your children will flip through. They're the one thing from your wedding day that doesn't disappear.
So if you're getting married in Ahmedabad and you're trying to figure out how to choose a wedding photographer, this is for you. Not a sales pitch. Just the things we genuinely wish more couples knew before they booked.

Style matters more than you think
Wedding photography has a distinct visual language, and not every photographer speaks the same one. Some are bright and airy. Some are dark and moody. Some shoot very traditionally. Some think in cinematic frames.
There's no wrong answer but there's a wrong match. Look at your own home. The way you dress. The films you love. If you're drawn to warm, golden, intimate images, a photographer whose portfolio is all sharp, high-contrast editorial shots might produce a gallery that feels a bit... foreign.
"The best wedding photograph doesn't look like a photograph. It looks like a memory."
Meet them before you decide
This sounds obvious, but most couples skip it. They see the portfolio, they get a quote, they book. And then they meet their photographer for the first time on their wedding day.
Your photographer will be with you for 2-3 days. They'll be in the room when you're emotional, nervous, and exhausted. The way you feel around them matters enormously. A short call or meeting will tell you everything you need to know about whether this is the right person.
THINGS TO ASK IN YOUR FIRST CALL
Have you shot at our venue before? If not, will you visit beforehand?
How many weddings do you take per day?
What's your editing timeline? When will we receive our photos?
Can we see 2–3 full wedding galleries?
Understand what you're actually paying for
In Ahmedabad, wedding photography packages can range from ₹2,00,000 to ₹10,00,000 and beyond. That's a wide range and the difference isn't always obvious from the outside.
What you're really paying for is time, experience, and trust. An experienced photographer has shot hundreds of weddings. They know exactly where to be when the mangalsutra goes on. They've handled low light, chaotic timelines, difficult family members, and fading golden hours. That experience is what you're paying a premium for and in hindsight, almost every couple says it was worth it.

Think about 10 years from now
Here's a question we always ask couples: close your eyes and imagine looking at your wedding album when you're 45. What do you want to feel?
Most people want to feel something. Not just see something. The difference between a technically correct photograph and one that makes your chest feel tight. That's what a great photographer is chasing every single shot.
Don't book the cheapest option just to save money on one line item and don't book the most expensive one just because the name is well-known. Book the person whose work genuinely moves you. That feeling is a signal.
